GREENFIELD — Whether it’s a passing anomaly, a generational trend or a sign of the technology-driven times, one thing is certain, obesity is an issue in Hancock County.

Now, a new initiative will spring into action in March to get residents off the couch and out of the house to shed unwanted pounds.

Registration for Healthy Strides In Hancock County, an effort of Hancock Regional Hospital, Hancock Wellness Center and the Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department and backed by funding from county civic and business organizations, kicks off March 3 for an 11-week program organizers hope will change the way people think about being active.
