GREENFIELD — The public’s right to know about how taxpayer dollars are spent could be in jeopardy with plans for a closed meeting next month among Hancock County’s elected officials.
Hancock County Commissioners and the Hancock County Council are planning a joint retreat for Aug. 23. Topics will include the controversial roundabout on Mt. Comfort Road and the 2013 budget.
While both bodies have held retreats in the past, this is the first time the session will be closed to the public in what organizers are calling a Republican caucus. They are all Republicans.
