GREENFIELD — Minutes before being arrested on suspicion of drunken driving early Thursday, Hancock County Coroner Tamara Vangundy admitted she drove her personal vehicle instead of a county van to the scene of a death investigation because she thought she was impaired, police said.

Vangundy was due in court this morning on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and official misconduct. Hancock County Prosecutor Michael Griffin said Thursday he planned to ask for the appointment of a special prosecutor to handle the case.
