NEW PALESTINE — In only one season as an assistant coach, Chad Red endeared himself to the New Palestine wrestlers. Now, Red will be given the opportunity to bond with the Dragons in a more permanent role.
Red was unanimously approved Monday by the Southern Hancock County School Board as the high school wrestling head coach, replacing Steve Harding, who resigned in March.
Harding, 59, led the Dragons to a 24-4 record and a top-20 state ranking, with three wrestlers advancing to the State Finals. But throughout the season, New Palestine grapplers were quick to also credit Red for their success, noting Red’s positive impact on practice, as well as the overall mood of the team.
