Rain washed out play at the North Central tennis regional Tuesday, postponing matches to 4 p.m. today. Regional final matches will be held Thursday at 4 p.m.
Sectional champion New Palestine (13-3) will face off against Lawrence North (11-8) today.
Also, in a matchup of No. 1 doubles teams, Greenfield-Central’s Max Holtzclaw and Jake Kauth (19-3) will take on Mt. Vernon’s Ben Bobb and Corey Beck (1-2).
MV No. 1 singles player Bryce Bobb (10-8) is also still alive in the state tournament, but must wait for today’s matches to play out before his opponent is determined.
NP advanced to regional by defeating MV 3-2 and G-C 4-1 for the program’s fourth sectional crown in the past five seasons. The Marauders won the sectional last season by topping Eastern Hancock 5-0.
Holtzclaw and Kauth moved on by besting EH’s Garett Hammond and Danny Rash 6-0, 6-4 in the semifinal round at sectional. They then beat NP’s Shayan Khokhar and Evan Poole 7-5, 6-3 in the finals.
Ben Bobb and Beck only recently started playing together, but the duo triumphed over Khokhar and Poole in three sets during the sectional semifinals.
Both doubles teams, in addition to Bryce Bobb — who beat sectional champ Brent Barrett of NP in three sets in the sectional semifinals — advanced since they were undefeated in sectional at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles, respectively.
