Mt. Vernon’s last baseball game of the regular season proved to be one of its best performances of the year, as the Marauders downed Whiteland 14-1 on Monday.
Tyler Langdon (2-for-4, two runs, four RBIs), Drew Kammerer (3-for-3, two doubles, three RBIs), Troy Montgomery (3-for-4, two RBIs), Jake Mills (two runs, two RBIs) and Zach Norman (walk, two RBIs) led an MV offense that pounded out 12 hits.
The Marauders (10-15) take on Howe today at Brebeuf in the first round of Class 3A Sectional 26 play. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Baseball
Greenfield-Central 6, Pike 4
Jared Banton pitched four innings of two-hit, one-run baseball and Greenfield-Central won its regular-season finale Monday.
Kyle Gleeson drove in two runs while Curtiss Irving, Mitch Gibson, Chris Gibbs and Brendon Neal each had an RBI.
Monday, the Cougars (17-11) will take on New Castle (20-8) at noon in the second semifinal of the Class 4A Sectional 9 bracket at Pendleton Heights.
Fishers 7, New Palestine 6
Monday, the host Tigers (22-8) plated a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to snap the 4A No. 11 Dragons’ four-game win streak.
Stephen Ochs took the loss for NP.
Offensively for New Pal, Jacob Barnes notched two hits and two RBIs, Cameron Clark was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI while Alex Rejer recorded a pair of hits and scored a run.
NP (21-6) will face Franklin Monday in the second semifinal of Class 4A Sectional 13 play. Game time is 1 p.m. at Whiteland.
Frankton 8, Eastern Hancock 3
The Royals lost their sixth-consecutive game to end the regular season on Monday.

Connor Kramer (2-for-4, run), Evan Fout (2-for-4, triple, two RBIs, stolen base) and Hunter Brown (2-for-4, two runs, two stolen bases) chipped in offensively for Eastern Hancock.
EH (9-15) faces off against Knightstown today at 5 p.m. in the third quarterfinal game of the Class 2A Sectional 41 bracket at Centerville.
