Eastern Hancock picked up three losses Saturday at the Morristown Invitational.
EH dropped its opener to Morristown by a 5-3 decision. Kyle Kramer gathered the loss.
Offensively for the Royals, Connor Kramer was 3-for-4 with a run, Cole Fout logged two triples and two runs while Cody Wallace and Coston Brown each had an RBI.
Wabash topped Eastern 18-5 in the second game.
Wallace had two hits, including his fifth triple of the year, but was also dealt the loss on the rubber.
In its final game of the day, EH fell to Oldenburg Academy 9-5.
Hunter Brown, Evan Fout, Connor Kramer and Dalton Korlowicz each had a hit. The trio of Coston Brown, Kyle Kramer and Korlowicz drove in one run each.
Wednesday at 5 p.m., EH (9-14) takes on Knightstown at Centerville in the first round of 2A Sectional 41 play.
Marauders win own invitational
The Mt. Vernon softball team closed its regular season in style on Saturday, winning two games in the Mt. Vernon Invitational.
MV topped Elwood 21-4 in its first game and then edged Columbus North 6-5 in nine innings.
In the opener, the Marauders got their bats going early on by scoring six runs in the first inning and 10 in the second.
Offensive standouts were Whitney Estes (3-for-5, two runs, two doubles, five RBIs), Ambry Turpen (3-for-4, three runs, three RBIs), Rachel Houck (3-for-5, run, three RBIs) and Kelsey Anderson (four runs).
Balbach acquired the win, pitching three innings of four-run, three-hit ball.
In its second game, MV rallied to level the score at three in the sixth. Both teams plated two runs apiece in the seventh inning before Estes hit in the winning run in the ninth.
Emily White (3-for-4, run), Brooke Saldana (2-for-5, run), Balbach (two hits), Turpen (two hits) and Estes (three hits) paced the Marauder offense.
Balbach collected her 15th victory of the season on the mound.
