Three days before Thursday’s sectional tennis tournament, two common foes squared off on Monday. Greenfield-Central topped host Eastern Hancock 5-0.

The results were as follows: Amelia Shepherd def. Becca Austin (No. 1 singles), Taylor Titus def. Andrea Terheide (No. 2 singles), Alli Frazier def. Sara Neff (No. 3 singles), Lauren Brand/Kyla Leary def. Alora Marshall/Lauren Harmon (No. 1 doubles) and Emma Morgan/Meg Summers def. Taylor Stanley/Emily Coleman (No. 2 doubles).

Tennis

Mt. Vernon 5, Anderson 0

Clara Ruegsegger (No. 1 singles), Allie Schafer (No. 2 singles), Kelsi Tammen (No. 3 singles), Caitlin Laughlin/Maddie Walrod (No. 1 doubles) and Rachael Kammerer/Ellen Wuerch (No. 2 doubles) won in straight sets.

Thursday’s sectional will take place at Mt. Vernon, where the host Marauders take on Greenfield-Central. Defending champion New Palestine opens against Eastern Hancock.

Both semifinals will begin at 5 p.m. The championship is Friday at 5 p.m.
