Greenfield turns back Trojans

The Greenfield-Central swim team swept New Castle Thursday in a dual meet.

The Cougars won the girls event 98-88 behind a pair of wins by Taylor Young (200, 500) and victories by Ashley Finney (100 butterfly), Krista Zornes (100 breaststroke) and the 200 medley relay team.

“Last year New Castle defeated us by 10,” G-C coach Emily Logan said. “This year we were able to develop our depth and fight through all races. These girls are fighting for spots each week. They are hungry and excited to swim and dive.”

The G-C boys dominated in a 141.5-41.5 victory.

Individual results were not available.

“We had some great swims after a tough week of practice,” coach Mark Logan said. “We were really pleased to see the guys working hard and racing hard.”

The Cougars finished 1-2-3 in five out of 12 events, Logan added.
