In its last home meet of the season, the Greenfield-Central swimming and diving team swept Shelbyville in convincing fashion Thursday.
The girls won 120-54, improving its dual record to 6-3-1.
Individual first-place finishes went to Carly Fernandes (200 freestyle), Kylie Smith (200 individual medley), Taylor Johnson (50 freestyle), Taylor Cermak (100 freestyle) and Jessica Ensign (100 breaststroke).
The 200 medley relay (Fernandes, Olivia Stirn, Johnson, Cermak) and 200 freestyle relay (Fernandes, Holly Curry, Sam Gulden, Johnson) also prevailed.
“The girls swam well for having three meets in one week. We had several swimmers win their event for the first time this season, so they had a lot of fun,” G-C girls coach Emily Logan said. “We were able to celebrate our seniors: Carly Fernandes, Taylor Johnson and Sam Gulden. These three young ladies have been great leaders for this team.”
On the boys side, G-C triumphed 119-61, moving to 9-1 in dual meets.
Individual victors were Bailey Willoughby (200, 500 freestyle), Kody Garcia (200 individual medley), Austin Gaunt (diving), Patrick Stutz (100 butterfly), Blake Carlton (100 freestyle) and Jared Tomer (100 backstroke).
The Cougars also took the 200 freestyle relay (Stutz, Cody Wilburn, Willoughby, Joey Connell) and 400 freestyle relay (Josh Cummins, Michael Barber, Luke Jones, Wilburn).
“This night was about the seniors and all the underclassmen did a fantastic job of honoring them and securing a victory,” G-C boys coach Mark Logan said.
Greenfield-Central is at the Fishers Invitational today.
