Fueled by Mouhamed Konate’s two goals, the Mt. Vernon boys’ soccer team edged Pendleton Heights 3-2 Thursday to move to 5-1 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play.
Konate, who added an assist, has scored a county-best 16 goals this season.
Matt Powell also scored for the Marauders. Shane DeWael and Jake Fontaine notched assists.
MV (7-5-2) is at 2A No. 16 Fishers today.
Boys’ soccer
Fishers 4, New Palestine 0
The visiting Tigers blanked the Dragons Thursday.
“Fishers is a good team with lots of depth and good technical play,” NP coach Bobby Holden said. “We are looking forward to Saturday’s game now.”
NP (7-5-2) will conclude its season with three straight HHC matches, starting today when it welcomes Delta.
Girls’ soccer
Greenfield-Central 7, Shelbyville 0
Sammie McCoy had a hat trick, Alli Frazier scored twice and Katie Peters registered a clean sheet in net to give the Cougars a road win.
McCoy has now scored 21 times this season, best in the county.
Abbey Schulz and Emily Koers added goals.
G-C (8-5, 4-2 HHC) hosts 2A No. 2 Hamilton Southeastern Monday.
