Vestal, Lash lead MV baseball to victory




Connor Swain threw New Palestine’s second no-hitter of the season Monday, blanking common sectional foe Brebeuf over five innings in the Dragons’ 11-0 victory.

Swain walked four and struck out four. NP (17-8) got a combined no-hitter from Evan Vance and Cameron Clark vs. New Castle on April 18.

Swain also had two hits, drove in a pair and scored three runs to guide a 10-hit Dragon attack.

Evan Hickman had two hits and had four RBI. Clark had two knocks, scored twice and drove in a run. Jason Hall-Manley had two RBI.

Mt. Vernon 8, Chatard 2

The Marauders improved to 10-10 Monday, getting two hits and two RBI from Wyatt Vestal and a strong pitching performance from Nathanael Lash.

Lash went three and 2/3 innings, allowing no runs and striking out four.

Alex McMillan had two hits and scored two runs for Mt. Vernon. Noah Powell drove in a pair of runners. Christian Smith had a hit, scored a run and swiped two bases.
