The New Palestine girls basketball team fell at Shelbyville 52-44 Tuesday night, handing the Golden Bears (1-6) their first victory of the season.

The Dragons trailed 25-21 at half and 43-31 after three quarters.

Haley Stratman paced NP with 17 points. Natalie Kehrt added 10 points, six rebounds and three steals.

NP shot a season-best 48 percent (16-of-33) from the field.

Shelbyville’s Riley Achenbach led all scorers with 20 points.

New Palestine (1-5, 0-2 Hoosier Heritage Conference) at Greenfield-Central (1-5, 0-2 HHC) Friday.

Girls basketball

North Decatur 61,Eastern Hancock 45

Entering the fourth quarter with a 38-37 advantage, the Royals were outscored 24-7 in the final eight minutes by the host Chargers (3-4, 1-0 Mid-Hoosier Conference).

Kiersten Schrope (16 points, four assists, five steals), Kristin Eischen (11 points, six rebounds, five steals) and Kaytlin Eastes (nine points, three blocks) contributed for EH.

The Royals (4-3, 1-2 MHC) host Northeastern today.

Wrestling

Royals fall at Triton Central

The Eastern Hancock wrestling team fell to host Triton Central 63-4 Tuesday.

Nathan Kell (138) posted a 10-0 victory for the Royals’ lone win.

EH is at Shelbyville today in a late addition to the Royals’ schedule.
