Dragons bash Martinsville

Eastern Hancock and the Indianapolis Kings homeschool program battled to a 9-9 tie Thursday in eight innings.

The Royals (5-9-1) plated three runs in the sixth inning and four more in the seventh to force extras, but darkness halted the game after eight innings.

Offensively, EH was paced by Cole Fout (2-for-5, RBI, run scored, stolen base), Devon Wagoner (2-for-4, two runs, two stolen bases), Garek Ferguson (double, RBI, run scored, stolen base), Brandon Ray (run scored, RBI) and Devin Denny (two runs).

New Palestine 13, Martinsville 6

Hogan Fulkerson pitched five innings and allowed three earned runs to take the win Friday for the Dragons, who improved to 13-7 on the year.

At the plate, Cameron Clark had a home run and four RBI, Jason Hall-Manley collected three RBI on three hits and Nick Butcher had three hits and scored three runs.

Clark also pitched two innings of scoreless relief.

NP will visit Fishers on Monday.

Girls tennis

Indian Creek 3, Eastern Hancock 2

Sara Neff won at No. 3 singles Thursday for EH, while Alex Perkins and Madison Mayfield prevailed at No. 2 doubles.

Shelbyville 3, New Palestine 2

Nicole Beaty and the doubles team of Kara Miller/Kylar Litteral posted NP’s victories.


New Palestine 11, Scecina 1

The Dragons (16-3) beat the Crusaders in five innings on a home run by Brittany Duncan, a pair of doubles from Mary Crumlin and 17 total hits.

On the mound, Kaylin McMurray (three innings pitched, four strikeouts) and Elisa Barker (two IP, one strikeout) combined to allow just three hits.

Scecina had three errors, while the Dragons’ defense was perfect in 21 total chances.

Eastern Hancock 13, Centerville 0

Skyler Overleese had a team-high three hits and Jordan Pierson added a team-best three RBI in the Royals’ five-inning win.

Allison Turner added a pair of RBI and Caitlin Richmond and Darby Shaw combined for five innings of shutout pitching for the Royals (13-3).

Mt. Vernon 6, Westfield 5

The Marauders improved to 5-13 on the year Friday. Stats were not available as of Friday evening.
