In the boys tennis regional semifinals at North Central on Tuesday, the host Panthers defeated New Palestine 5-0.
North Central (19-0) advanced to face Hamilton Southeastern (15-3) in today’s regional championship.
HSE defeated Lawrence North 4-1 in the other semifinal.
New Palestine, the Hancock County Tourney and team sectional champ, finished the season 14-3.
In individual singles/doubles state tournament at Greenfield-Central Tuesday, the Cougars’ No. 1 doubles team of Max Holtzclaw and Jake Kauth defeated Mt. Vernon’s Grant Williams and Ben Bobb, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
At No. 1 singles, Dakota Smith (G-C) won by forfeit over MV’s Mark Alvarado.
Holtzclaw and Kauth (22-1 on the year) and Smith (16-4) advanced in the tourney and will play today at North Central. Holtzclaw and Kauth will take on the No. 1 doubles team from Fishers at 4 p.m. and Smith will face the No. 1 singles player from Hamilton Heights, also at 4 p.m.
Noblesville beat Mt. Vernon Tuesday in volleyball action 25-16, 25-14, 25-15.
Jaclyn Bulmahn (five kills, five assists), Lauren James (12 digs, one ace) and Julia Wayer (five kills, five digs) led the Marauders.
Knightstown improved to 13-4 with a 25-15, 26-24, 25-23 win over Eastern Hancock (7-17).
Lauren Harmon (eight kills), Melissa Bedell (seven kills) and Hannah Best (16 digs) led the Royals.
Hamilton Southeastern defeated Greenfield-Central 25-19, 25-15, 25-18.
Jordan Bunch led the Cougars (15-9) with nine kills and six digs.
Shelbyville beat New Palestine 15-29, 15-25, 25-18, 25-14.
Jamie Morris led the Dragons with 35 digs. Megan Hawley had 12 kills and 15 digs.
The Dragons are now 15-13 and 1-4 in HHC play.
The Dragon JV won 16-25, 25-14, 15-13.
