Prep Wrap: New Pal tennis sweeps Morristown

The New Palestine girls tennis team swept Morristown 5-0 in an away match Thursday, winning every match in straight sets.

Nicole Beaty, Madeline Smith and Sarah Pearson won at singles. Kara Miller/Kylar Litteral and Lauren Hardebeck/Alana Henry prevailed at doubles.

Frankton 5, Greenfield-Central 0

Alli Frazier pushed her singles’ match to three sets Thursday for the Cougars.


Pendleton Heights 7, Mt. Vernon 6

A late rally wasn’t enough for the Marauders (4-13), who trailed 7-0 after five innings Thursday.

Rachel Davis hit a home run for MV, which dropped to 2-4 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play.

Davis’ home run cut the Marauders’ deficit from 7-3 to 7-6 in the seventh inning. She also had a two-out RBI single. Lauren Montgomery had a sacrifice fly.

New Palestine 15, Batesville 1

The Dragons improved to 12-7 overall Thursday. Evan Vance earned the win on the mound.

Anderson 6, Mt. Vernon 5

Anderson scored three runs in the top of the sixth to pull ahead for good Thursday.

Zach Norman and Michael Cripe had two hits and an RBI each for MV (7-9), which lost to a common sectional foe.

New Palestine 190, Warren Central 198

Brady Elliott led the Dragons with a 46 Thursday.

Sam O’Dell (47), Grayden Martin (48) and Brody Harter (49) rounded out the NP scoring.

“It was good to get a win,” NP coach Gregg Greene said. “We have lots of work to do before conference, county and sectionals.”

Eastern Hancock 192, Morristown 218

Cole Allen’s medalist-winning 44 led the way for the Royals Thursday.

Nelson Dulin had a 47, Caleb Wallen had a 50 and Jacob Stacy fired a 51.
