NP, MV boys hoops fall




The New Palestine gymnastics team took second at the Bloomington North Invitational Saturday.

The Dragons scored 101.225 points, with Franklin Central notching 101.825. Owen Valley was third (100.1) and New Castle (98.525) placed fourth at the 11-team event.

NP’s Kate Fee was the all-around champion (36.625). Fee set an NP record on the beam with a 9.725, and had a 9.4 on the floor, winning both events.

Boys basketball

Connersville 45, New Palestine 42

Connersville’s Tyler Billups drilled a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Spartans (11-6) a road victory Saturday.

New Palestine (8-9) lost for the seventh time in the last nine games. Ryan Curry scored 11 points for NP. Connor Roach had 10 points.

Lawrence Central 56, Mt. Vernon 43

Freshman James McCloud scored a career-best 13 points and added seven rebounds for Mt. Vernon (8-10). Miles Wayer had 10 points. Michael Thompson had five points and six rebounds.

LC improved to 9-6.
