The New Palestine gymnastics team handled Shelbyville 103.025-87.425 Tuesday to improve to 31-0 on the season.
Kenzi Hoffman claimed the all-around crown (33.125 points), winning the vault (9.15), beam (8.725) and floor (8.95) for the Dragons. Hoffman was also second on bars.
Kate Fee was runner-up in the all-around (33.75), placing second on beam (8.5) and floor (8.725), as well as registering third-place finishes on vault (8.45) and bars (8.075).
Shelly Huesman was first on bars (8.425) and fourth on beam (7.45).
Annabelle Dockins took third in the all-around (31.75), finishing second on vault (9.0), fourth on floor (8.225) and fifth in both bars (7.2) and beam (7.325).
New Palestine closes its regular season Saturday at the Columbus East Invitational.
Connersville 60, Greenfield-Central 36
The Cougars had their three-game win streak snapped by the visiting Spartans Tuesday in both teams’ regular-season finales.
Derek Conley scored in double digits for the fifth straight game, tallying 13 points for the hosts.
Griffin Lowe and Blake Robertson each added five points.
The Cougars took the JV game 53-47 to finish 9-11 on the season. Geordan Stump had 14 points.
G-C (5-15) is off until March 1, where it will await the winner of New Castle (11-9) and Anderson (16-4) in the Class 4A Sectional 9 semifinals.
G-C's Gaunt, Keener compete at Avon
Greenfield-Central’s Austin Gaunt and Jacob Keener placed 17th and 20th, respectively, at Tuesday’s Avon diving regional.
The top eight place-winners advanced to Saturday morning’s state diving prelims.
Gaunt, who won the sectional crown last Saturday, recorded a score of 189.05. Keener scored a 178.7.
Andrew Cramer of Cathedral won the event with a score of 481.85. North Central’s Scott Stewart was eighth (334.65).
G-C’s Josh Cummins, Drew Logan, Patrick Stutz, Cody Wilburn and Bailey Willoughby will join New Palestine’s Grant Gish at Friday’s state swimming prelims at IUPUI.
