Jordan Lilly’s first-half goal off a Blaire Viehweg corner gave the Mt. Vernon girls soccer a 1-0 win over host Pendleton Heights Thursday.
With the victory, the Marauders (11-4, 6-0 Hoosier Heritage Conference) clinched the outright conference crown. They had secured a share of the program’s initial HHC title Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Delta.
Greenfield-Central 4, Rushville 0
At Rushville Thursday, the Cougars improved to 9-6 thanks to goals from Mitch Broome, Enrique Ferrara, Luke Tuttle and Westyn Wood.
Ferrara added two assists. Conner Shaw had two assists.
Brandyn Burkhart notched the shutout in net.
G-C’s final regular season match is Saturday at home against Fishers and will include a special appearance by Indy Eleven head coach Juergen Sommer and the team’s first signee, Kristian Nicht.
The duo will be introduced at halftime and will sign autogrpahs after the match.
Senior Night festivities will take place prior to the game, which will begin at 7 p.m.
Indy Eleven will make its debut in the North American Soccer League next year.
Pendleton Heights 1, New Palestine 0
Ninety-four minutes weren’t enough for New Palestine and Pendleton Heights to decide their game, but the Dragons fell to PH 1-0 in a penalty kick shootout.
PH won the shootout by a 4-3 score.
It was the second scoreless tie the Dragons played in conference play this season, only to fall in a shootout. NP finishes the regular season with an 8-7 record and 3-3 in HHC play. PH clinched the Hoosier Heritage Conference title with the victory.
“Very proud of the team and all seven of the seniors,” NP coach Bobby Holden said. “The team played very hard and played a great game. Thanks to all the seniors for all their hard work throughout the years. Thanks to all the fans who showed up tonight.”
The Dragons open sectional play next Wednesday at home against Greenfield-Central. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
Pendleton Heights 3, Greenfield-Central 0
The host Arabians prevailed 26-24, 25-14, 25-16 Thursday, dropping the Cougars to 15-9 (1-5 HHC).
Shelbyville 3, Mt. Vernon 0
The Marauders dropped a home HHC tilt Thursday.
New Palestine 3, Triton Central 0
NP got a 25-9, 25-10, 25-9 victory Thursday.
Megan Hawley had a big night at the net with 14 kills and 11 digs. Katlyn Keele had nine kills.
Jamie Morris led the back row play with 28 digs. Ellen Poetz had 16 assists.
The Dragons are now 15-12.
