The Greenfield-Central golf team took second in a tri-meet with New Palestine and Franklin Central Monday.
NP (180) was first, followed by G-C (190) and FC (212).
The Cougars were paced by Makenzie Fisk (43) and Nicole Morley (43). Megan Garner (45) and Amanda Edwards (59) rounded out the scoring.
NP, as reported Tuesday, was led by medalist Abby Poole’s 40.
EH golfers 3rd
The Eastern Hancock girls golf team (222) placed third in a match with Shenandoah (216) and Knightstown (221) Monday.
Ryley Burkhart’s 53 led the Royals, followed by Hailey Carlton (56), Breanna Jones (56) and Rachel Boaz (57).
EH is at the Hancock County Meet Tuesday.
Mt. Vernon 7, Delta 0
Mouhamed Konate, Aaron Gilpin and Matt Powell scored twice each as MV cruised in its Hoosier Heritage Conference opener. Aaron Wheeler scored the other goal for the Marauders, who improved to 4-0 overall.
Logan Justus had the shutout in goal.
Greenfield-Central 8, Greenwood 0
Enrique Ferrara’s hat trick paced the Cougars.
Conner Shaw added a pair of goals and Ethan Stutz and Luke Tuttle found the net once each to lead G-C.
Whiteland 2, New Palestine 0
Whiteland scored a goal in each half to blank New Palestine 2-0 Tuesday night at Whiteland.
The Warriors scored late in the opening half, and then added a penalty kick goal in the second.
NP coach Bobby Holden cited the play of Caleb Kramer, Matt Ernster and Ben Richter in the loss.
The Dragons are 2-2 on the year.
Brebeuf 3, New Palestine 0
The Dragons dropped a tough decision on the road Tuesday, falling to a strong Brebeuf team 25-19, 25-8, 25-15.
The Dragons are now 2-1 on the season.
Brebeuf won the JV match 25-12, 25-21.
Mt. Vernon 3, Lapel 0
The Marauders earned a 25-18, 25-20, 25-15 sweep behind Jaclyn Bulman (nine kills, five assists, 16 digs), Julia Wayer (19 digs), Mary Grace Ertel (eight digs, eight assists, six kills), Shelby Blair (seven kills) and Emily White (nine assists).
Erin Lyday (10 digs, two kills) was among the leaders for the MV junior varsity team, which lost 2-1.
Centerville 3, Eastern Hancock 0
The Royals fell to 0-7 on the year with a 25-11, 25-10, 25-21 loss.
Lauren Harmon (three kills, 11 digs) and Emily Reger (17 digs) led EH.
