The Greenfield-Central girls basketball team dropped its first game of the season Saturday night, falling 52-43 at Franklin.
The Cougars trailed 7-6 after one quarter and 21-16 at half. The Grizzly Cubs, who are in the same sectional as New Palestine and knocked the Dragons out of the playoffs last season, moved to 2-0.
Emily Koers led G-C with 12 points. Sara Jones recorded eight points and paced the team with seven rebounds. Shelby Oldham added eight points and five assists. Shelby Davis had five steals.
G-C (1-1) hosts New Castle (0-1) today and Pendleton Heights (2-0) on Friday.
“We played hard but ran out of time on the scoreboard,” G-C coach Doug Laker said. “Looking forward to this week’s games vs. New Castle, a possible sectional opponent, and Pendleton Heights, a conference foe and another possible sectional opponent.”
