Softball sluggers hot in Wednesday wins

In one of their final tune-ups before the Hancock County Tournament, the Mt Vernon girls tennis team fell to Delta, the state’s No. 14-ranked team, 4-1 on Wednesday.

Maddie Walrod and Molly Laughlin notched MV’s win (7-6, 6-3) at No. 1 doubles, while the No. 2 doubles team of Addison Eads and Cassie York lost to the Eagles in three sets.
