The Greenfield-Central girls’ golf team finished eighth out of 18 teams at the season-opening Greensburg Invitational Saturday.
At the Greensburg Country Club, the Cougars finished with a 383, led by Ali Kern (92), Nicole Morley (96) and Makenzie Fisk (96).
Columbus North (317), Richmond (337) and Columbus East (338) took the top three spots in the 18-hole event. Fellow Hoosier Heritage Conference foe Rushville (381) finished two strokes ahead of G-C.
Richmond’s Erin Ingram (68) took medalist honors ahead of Connersville’s Lindsey Hackerman (76).

Eastern Hancock opened the season with a 249 in its nine-hole match against Connersville and host Wapahani. The Royals finished in third place, but team scores for Connersville and Wapahani were not provided.
Rachel Boaz (53) and Hailey Carlton (58) paced the Royals.

Mt. Vernon’s Ellen Wuerch took medalist honors with a 41 to help the Marauders (191) beat Lawrence North (217) and Beech Grove (244) Monday in the season-opener.
Molly Yee (49), Hannah Yee (50), Bailey Fleming (52) and Mia Amundson (52) completed the scoring for the Marauders.
