Softball teams go 0-3

After tying the game with a run in the seventh, the Mt. Vernon baseball team gave up one to Roncalli in the bottom of the eighth to fall 6-5 and drop to 13-10 on the season.

Troy Montgomery went 2-for-2 for Mt. Vernon, drawing three walks, stealing two bases and scoring a run.

Noah Powell added two hits, including a triple. Tyler Langdon, Joey Turner, Seth Gohring and Michael Thompson added RBIs.

Gohring took the loss in relief.

MV (6-6 Hoosier Heritage Conference) welcomes Pendleton Heights (14-6, 8-4 HHC) Friday.

The Arabians lost 3-2 to visiting Yorktown Tuesday, thereby ensuring Greenfield-Central (17-5-1, 10-2 HHC) a share of its initial HHC title.

Pendleton Heights 152, Greenfield-Central 169

The Greenfield-Central boys golf team fell short in a dual match with Pendleton Heights Tuesday at Hawk’s Tail, losing 152-169.

For the Cougars (5-6, 3-2 HHC), Jake Kauth led the way with a 40.

Adam Casto (41), Clayton Long (42) and Connor Pence (46) backed up Kauth.

G-C is at Eastern Hancock today.

Greenfield-Central will host the sectional tournament on Monday, June 3 at Hawk’s Tail, with tee-off slated for 9 a.m.

Blue River Valley, Eastern Hancock, Knightstown, Morristown, Mt. Vernon, New Castle, New Palestine, Shelbyville, Shenandoah, Southwestern, Triton Central and Waldron will join the Cougars at sectional.
