The tandem of Seth Eagleson and Sam Voelz won the individual championship at the Noblesville Hokum Karem Saturday.
Eagleson and Voelz clocked in at 30 minutes, 36 seconds — 81 seconds ahead of Pendleton Heights.
Mt. Vernon finished second behind Brebeuf in the team standings, led by Aaron Rush/Andrew Boyle in fourth. Brendan O’Bryhim/Christian Noble were seventh and Brandt True/Andrew Thaxton took eighth.
The Dragons were third as a team, with Dominic Basciano/Riley Wilson taking 12th and Chase Tuggle and Drew Legan finishing 16th.
“The guys team did a great job competing in a highly competitive race,” NP coach Daniel Weimer said. “Sam Voelz and Seth Eagleson continue to compete and run hard and were the champions today. It is awesome to see a freshman and a senior work hard and work together as a team.”
The girls team was third behind Pendleton Heights and Brebeuf.
Sarah Schwartz/Marissa Crosby (third), Bailey Wallace/Kayla Medaris (10th) and Maddie Waggoner/Caroline Voelz (18th) were the Dragons’ top finishers.
“It was great for the girls to get into a very competitive race this early in the season,” Weimer said. “Our top pair of Sarah Schwartz and Marissa Crosby did a great job running and competing in the front pack.”
MV was fourth, with Kaylee Walkey/Morgan Hayse eighth and Macie Dungan/Samantha Sanders 11th.
G-C boys second at Rushville
Zach Bishop’s fourth-place finish guided Greenfield-Central to a second-place finish at the Rushville Invitational Saturday.
Cathedral won the race, which took place on the Hoosier Heritage Conference Meet course.
Tyler Morris (11th), Syrus Fletcher (13th), Christopher Tatom (16th) and Taylor Wright (19th) rounded out the Cougars’ scoring.
The girls team was eighth, with Westfield taking first.
Rebecca Flora (14th), Katie Wickham (40th), Katie Schrank (49th), Rachel Gottwald (50th) and Madelyn Parsons (55th) were G-C’s top five.
