Prep Wrap: EH volleyball extends win streak to seven

Eastern Hancock triumphed for the seventh time in as many matches Wednesday, defeating Tri 25-13, 25-12, 25-18.

Beka Dickmander (11 kills), Hannah Best (21 digs), Jordian Eastes (34 assists) and Frannie Stephenson (11 kills, five aces) paced the Royals.

EH (12-5) hosts the Eastern Hancock Invitational Saturday, where it will play Greenwood, Hagerstown and North Decatur.


Mt. Vernon 3, Rushville 2

The Marauders earned their third victory of the season by topping the Lions 19-25, 25-8, 25-22, 25-19.

Mary Grace Ertel (10 kills, 10 digs, five aces), Ellie Balbach (nine kills, five blocks, 11 assists), Sydney Shelton (seven kills, 12 digs, ace, three blocks) and Lexi Reasor (five kills, 15 digs) contributed for Mt. Vernon.

MV is at the Cougar Challenge Tournament Saturday.

Boys’ tennis

Mt. Vernon 3, Rushville 2

The Mt. Vernon boys’ tennis team used a reshuffled lineup to edge Rushville Wednesday.

Nick Pham (No. 3 singles), Ben Bobb/Bryce Bobb (No. 1 doubles) and Corey Beck/Chandler Hines (No. 2 doubles) prevailed for the Marauders.

MV is at Franklin Central today.

Greenfield-Central 3, Yorktown 2

Chris Kersey (No. 2 singles), Brandon Hull (No. 3 singles) and Max Holtzclaw/Jake Kauth (No. 1 doubles) won to give G-C a road victory.

The Cougars finished their conference season with a 4-3 mark.

“This was a huge win for our program because we’ve really struggled in HHC play for the last few years,” G-C coach Jeff Sincroft said. “I hope this win shows we are an improving team, but I also hope our guys realize that we still have more work to do.”

G-C hosts Warren Central Saturday.
