MV boys top Pendleton field
The Mt. Vernon boys won the Pendleton Heights Invitational Thursday, fueled by dual winners Andrew Payne (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) and Wyatt Gutierrez (discus, shot put) and fellow victors Aaron Rush (3200) and Link Hine (pole vault).
“A total team effort,” MV coach Bruce Kendall said. “I would not have liked to make that the best two- out-of-three, but essentially we will face Pendleton Heights, Yorktown and Anderson down the road in the same format for Hoosier Heritage Conference and sectional, so Round 1 to us.
“Our field events really carried us through the day.”
