The New Palestine track teams scored a sweep of 4-way meets Monday.
The NP boys notched 98 points, outlasting Triton Central (63), Waldron (40) and Hauser (26).
Seth Eagleson was a double winner (1,600, 3,200). Chris Poturalski (200), Josh McKean (shot put) and the 3,200 relay also prevailed.
The Dragon girls accumulated 102 points, topping Triton Central (71), Waldron (29) and Hauser (22).
Annabelle Dockins (long jump, 300 hurdles), Kylie Zehner (100), Sarah Schwartz (800), Rachel Wineman (high jump) and Kayla Medaris (3,200) were the girls team’s individual winners.
NP swept the relays, taking the 400 (Dockins, Zehner, Courtney Smith, Gabbi Pierson), 1,600 (Dockins, Zehner, Smith, Kylie Keller) and 3,200 (Brianna Komornik, Izzy Fleetwood, Kayley Hutchinson, Mattie Waggoner).
Saturday, the Dragon girls competed in the Midwest Prep Invitational at Lawrence Central.
The qualification-only meet saw Wineman place sixth in high jump, Schwartz take seventh in the 3,200 with a season-best 11:55, and Dockins finish 14th in the 3,200.
MV boys down Richmond
The Mt. Vernon boys handled Richmond 82-50 Monday.
Link Hine (pole vault), Aaron Rush (1,600), Jake Russell (3,200), Caleb White (100), Donovan Bigelow (200), Wyatt Gutierrez (discus) and Andrew Payne (hurdles) prevailed for MV individually.
The Marauders also swept the relays.
Greenfield-Central 3, Waldron 2
Blanca Valcazar, Alli Frazier and Polly Baggott registered straight-set singles wins for the Cougars (2-2) Tuesday.
Mt. Vernon 5, Rushville 0
Allie Schafer, Sarah Jones and Kendra Eberhard scored singles wins for the Marauders (3-1) Tuesday, while Maddie Walrod/Molly Laughlin and Addison Eads/Cassie York tallied doubles victories.
Eastern Hancock 187, Triton Central 210
Behind Nelson Dulin’s medalist-winning 44, EH picked up a dual meet win Tuesday.
Cole Allen tallied a 45 for the Royals. Matt Wilson had a 47. Caleb Wallen had a 49.
Greenfield-Central 185, Warren Central 191
The Cougars moved to 5-0 in dual matches behind Clayton Long’s 45.
Gage Mann (46), Adam Casto (47) and Jake Kauth (47) rounded out the G-C scoring.
New Palestine 196, Triton Central 205
A host of Dragons made their varsity golf debuts Monday.
Sam O’Dell was the low NP golfer with a 46.
Blake Barnette shot 48, Peyton Chester 50, Ryan Fry and Nick Lyon each shot 52.
“First match of the year and their high school career for everyone but Sam and Ryan,” NP coach Gregg Greene said. “We played at Dakota Landing and had to learn quickly the speed and breaks to their greens. Overall, we played well after everyone settled down.”
New Palestine 8, Yorktown 5, 8 innings
The Dragons (8-1) won their sixth in a row in their Hoosier Heritage Conference opener.
NP won its fourth consecutive eight-inning contest.
Casey Lehman (four hits) and Adie Lorsung (3-for-5, home run, five RBI) led the Dragons’ 13-hit attack.
Kaylin McMurray started, but Elisha Barker earned the win in relief.
Delta 8, Greenfield-Central 5
Five defensive errors were the Cougars’ undoing Monday as they saw their eight-game win streak snapped in their initial HHC tilt.
Offensively for G-C (8-2), Deena Miller was 3-for-3 with three doubles. Codey Miller was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Erika Knapp had a double and an RBI.
Darcie Huber took the loss, striking out five and allowing seven hits and three earned runs.
Frankton 7, Mt. Vernon 0
The Marauders dropped to 1-5. Ambry Turpen took the loss.
New Palestine 8, Whiteland 5
The Dragons tallied 14 hits en route to their fifth straight win Monday.
NP was down 5-3 after a five-run Whiteland third, but scored three runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth.
Hogan Fulkerson yielded an earned run and six hits over six innings to get the victory for the Dragons (7-3), striking out five. Cameron Clark pitched the seventh for the save.
Justin Anderson (3-for-4, double, two RBI), Evan Hickman (2-for-4, double, two RBI), Wes McBride (2-for-3, run) and Nick Butcher (two this, run) paced the NP offense.
Tri 7, Eastern Hancock 5
The Royals lost their fourth straight Tuesday.
Tri scored a run in the first inning, then added two in the third, fifth and sixth innings.
Cole Fout was 3-for-4 with two runs and a double for EH (3-6). Devon Wagoner had a triple, two hits, two RBI and a run scored. David Johnson had a home run and two RBI.
Marauders split a pair
Mt. Vernon lost 8-1 to New Castle Tuesday, falling to 3-5.
The Marauders trailed 2-0 after four innings and 6-1 after four frames.
Zach Norman had two hits for MV.
Monday, the Marauders downed Beech Grove 7-2.
Norman walked, had two hits, three stolen bases and scored three runs. Nathanael Lash had a hit, walked twice, drove in a run and scored twice. Noah Powell, Michael Cripe and Tyler Langdon had an RBI apiece.
Andrew Boyle earned the win, tossing six innnigs of four-hit, two-run ball. He walked one and struck out eight.
