The New Palestine girls’ golf team edged its rivals from Greenfield-Central Monday night by the slimmest of margins, earning a dual match victory by the score of 195-196 at The Links.

NP’s Abby Poole fired a 42 to earn medalist honors.

Cassie Rooks (50), Sarah Rose (51) and Bailey Kamp (52) backed up Poole.

“First home match and we managed to pull out a win,” NP coach Gregg Greene said. “Abby played great and Cassie played with pain in her left hand from an injury a week ago. Bailey and Sarah grinded too.”

Nicole Morley (46), Ali Kern (47) and Jordan Dicken (49) paced the Cougars.

“We played as good as we have all year, we just came up a little short,” G-C coach Russ Wiley said. “We are still working on our consistency a great deal.

“Hopefully we can figure it out soon.”

Both teams are in action today as NP travels to Fishers and G-C faces off against Lawrence North.

The Eastern Hancock boys’ tennis team garnered three wins against visiting Edinburgh on Monday.

Ryan Speas (No. 1 singles), Garrett Hammond/Danny Rash (No. 1 doubles) and Caleb Wallen/Garek Ferguson (No. 2 doubles) each prevailed.

The teams were not able to finish their No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches before the rain arrived.

EH is at Hauser Thursday.
