The Eastern Hancock girls basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a 66-47 victory over common Sectional 41 foe Centerville Thursday evening.
Emiley Carlton paced the Royals with 17 points. Kiersten Schrope added 16 points, 10 steals, eight assists and seven rebounds. Hannah Best had 13 points and three steals.
The Royals (15-4) moved to 5-0 in games against teams in Sectional 41.
“We didn’t shoot the ball well in the first half (8-of-34 from the field), but still had an 11-point halftime lead thanks to our tremendous defensive efficiency,” EH coach Jeremy Powers said. “We responded well in the second half, got out in the break more, got some steals and played well together as a team.”
Southwestern, which handed EH its lone Mid-Hoosier Conference setback of the season, clinched the outright MHC crown Thursday with a 78-51 win over Hauser.
EH’s JV team defeated Centerville 55-15 to finish 17-1 on the year, setting a new program record for wins.
Greenfield-Central 56, Greenwood 47
Madison Wise scored 19 points and Regan Lewis added 17 as the Cougars won for the sixth time in their last seven games.
Shelby Oldham had eight points for G-C (13-6), which closes regular-season play today at Whiteland (1-18).
The Cougars’ JV team won 29-19.
Connersville 33, New Palestine 28
The Dragons fell in their final tune-up before Sectional 13 play begins next week.
Natalie Kehrt scored 12 points for NP (9-10).
Katlyn Keele added eight rebounds. Raegan McMurray had two assists.
