Now that’s more like it.
One week after a 49-25 pasting at the hands of Yorktown, Mt. Vernon rebounded in style Friday at Muncie South, blasting the Rebels 65-13.
The Marauders racked up 581 rushing yards, raced out to a 37-0 halftime lead and were whistled for zero penalties.
“We did a lot of things better. … That’s more of our way of doing things. We ran the ball hard and blocked hard,” MV coach Doug Armstrong said. “We took the game from the start — another thing we talked about doing. We’re concentrating on getting better.”
4A No. 13 Mt. Vernon (3-1) will close its regular season with five straight Hoosier Heritage Conference tilts, the first a face-off Friday with Pendleton Heights (2-2).
At 0-1 in HHC play, the Marauders can’t afford any more conference losses. The same can be said for the Arabians, who have dropped their initial HHC contests to New Palestine and Shelbyville by a combined score of 84-28.
