Marian University junior forward and Mt. Vernon graduate Jake Stafford was named to the All-Crossroads League Third Team.
It was the first all-conference honor for Stafford after a career regular season.
He finished as the team’s second-leading scorer with 13.4 points per game and was the team’s leader in rebounding with 6.3 boards per contest.
Stafford was also the team leader in blocked shots with 20 and finished second on the team in assists, steals (1.2 per game) and was the team leader in field goal percentage (.455). He led the Knights in free throw shooting (83 percent) and hit 34 percent of his 3-pointers.
Stafford was instrumental in leading a team that finished with the nation’s top turnover margin and the nation’s top assist/turnover ratio.
Stafford will lead the Knights (16-12) today when they head to second-seeded Grace College (13-5) for the first round of the Crossroads League Tournament.
