GREENFIELD — When you start to see the lawn chairs, you’ll know it’s time for Entertainment on the Plaza.
They dot the courthouse lawn on Fridays for eight consecutive weeks during the free concert series sponsored by Greenfield Banking Co. That’s because longtime fans of the event know the way to get the best seat is to plop a chair down on the courthouse lawn early on concert day, reserving their spot for the evening’s entertainment.
This June marks the 28th year for the event that attracts music enthusiasts from across central Indiana.
Seating is first-come, first-served, and lawn chairs are recommended for those who want to kick back and relax to styles including jazz, gospel and rock ‘n’ roll.
The concerts are family-friendly, so concert-goers of all ages are welcome.
“Blind Ricky,” a band whose repertoire includes country, bluegrass and gospel, kicks off the series June 6. Blind Ricky will be followed by a familiar favorite, the Wright Brothers, whose country, rock and bluegrass tunes have been a staple of the concert series for years.
Concerts begin at 7 p.m. and last about an hour and a half. The events are held every Friday with the exception of July 4. That week’s concert, a patriotic-themed program, will be held Thursday, July 3, so as not to conflict with other Independence Day celebrations.
