FORTVILLE — A car chase ended in a serious accident in Fortville Thursday night.
The pursuit began near the intersection of Ind. 67 and Carroll Road, police said. A Marion County officer asked for Lawrence police to assist them with stopping a suspicious vehicle around 9 p.m., but when officers attempted to pull the driver over, he fled, police said.
As the car drove along Ind. 67 toward Fortville, he set multiple small grass fires in the median because his vehicle was driving on its rims, police said. The driver, whose identity had not been released as of late Thursday, ultimately lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of Vitality Drive and Ind. 67 in Fortville.
The vehicle overturned, pinning the driver beneath it, according to police broadcasts.
An air ambulance was called to the scene, but the driver was ultimatley taken to the hospital by ambulance, according to police broadcasts. His condition was not immediately available.
