CUMBERLAND — Most people say you cannot make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, but Peer Foods plans to transform a vacant building once owned by Emge Foods into a new economic development venture for Hancock County.
The 146-year-old company wants to cook, package and ship sausages and hot dogs out of the former Emge cold-storage building at 5563 W. U.S. 40.
