Making strides: Hancock County Coroner Tamara Vangundy greets the crowd of onlookers at Sunday's parade. Vangundy made some waves late last week when she announced her plans to march with the Republican Party despite having recently been accused of arriving at a death investigation scene impaired. Vangundy, who faces a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and official misconduct, said Sunday she received only positive reactions from the community. (Natalie Loftus/Daily Reporter)
GREENFIELD — Tink and Elaine O’Neal arrived early to claim a spot along the route of Sunday’s 4-H Fair Parade, though the couple’s candy-catching days are long gone.
At 84 years old, the O’Neals have seen a lot of parades, but every summer, they still make the drive from Wilkinson.
In fact, they arrived 2½ hours before the first float was scheduled to roll out from the fairgrounds Sunday afternoon.
