PENDLETON — Greenfield-Central had over 300 yards of offense for the first time all season, failed to turn the ball over and limited its penalties.
Unfortunately for the Cougars, they couldn’t stop Pendleton Heights when they absolutely had to, and were dealt their eighth straight defeat Friday night, falling 48-28.
G-C concluded its regular season 1-8 and 0-6 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play, its sole win a 32-7 decision over New Castle in Week 1. PH improved to 4-5 (1-5 HHC).
It was Greenfield’s inability to get off the field on third and fourth down that overshadowed the breakout performance from its running attack.
“They made big plays on us. If we could’ve had a couple third down (stops), it might’ve changed things. Then there’s the fourth down play,” Greenfield-Central coach Roger Dodson said, speaking to a few of the contest’s critical junctures. “That was part of it.”
