GREENFIELD — Several newcomers have signed up to serve on school boards in Hancock County, but a few seats are still open.

The deadline to file signatures to get on the fall ballot is noon Friday. All four school districts now hold elections in the fall; 12 seats are up for grabs.

So far, only two board races are contested. While parents and community members tend to be vocal on school issues, that interest doesn’t translate into sitting in the hot seat themselves.
