GREENFIELD — While he has plenty on his plate, new Greenfield Water Superintendent Michael Fannin says he’s been warmly welcomed into the community.
Fannin took office Sept. 9, replacing longtime superintendent Mark Nance who resigned earlier this summer.
While Fannin says it’s taking time to learn a completely different water system from what he’s used to, he has plenty of support.
“Everyone has been so nice and it’s just really refreshing to come into a situation like this and have people so welcoming,” Fannin said. “I didn’t know what to expect.”
Fannin, 40, is a native of Gas City, a community about 60 miles north of Greenfield.
He led the operations team for Marion Utilities and prior to that, Fannin worked on animal aquatics systems and swimming pools for Walt Disney World resort in Florida.
Fannin is enjoying his new administrative position in Greenfield, where he’s been busy meeting other department heads and seeing how he can improve water flow and quality throughout the city.
