The New Palestine girls basketball team lost twice in the holiday tournament at Franklin Friday. The host Grizzly Cubs defeated NP 53-31 in the opening round, while Rushvill beat Indian Creek 64-51 in the other opener. Indian Creek handled the Dragons 54-37 in the consolation, and Rushville (10-2) defeated Franklin 46-27 for the tourney title. Franklin is 6-7 on the year and Indian Creek is 7-3. New Palestine (2-9) will play two games for the second straight day, beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. when it faces Mt. Vernon (8-2) in the semifinals of the Hancock County tourney.
