KNIGHTSTOWN—What would a game at the Hoosier Gym be without a made-for-the-movies comeback by Hickory?
At the Hoosier Reunion All-Star Classic Friday night in Knightstown, the Hickory girls erased a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit with a comeback that would have made Coach Dale crack a smile. And with the game on the line, a self-described “movie junkie” from Hancock County hit a pair of 3-pointers to give the Huskers an improbable 88-87 victory.
“We kept saying, ‘It’s a storybook ending. Hickory is supposed to win by one,’” said New Palestine’s Bethany Murrell, who played the part of Jimmy Chitwood.
