Martha Beckenholdt: A passion for giving

Martha Beckenholdt launched a legacy when she donated $1 million to the Hancock County Community Foundation in 1993. GREENFIELD — For Martha Beckenholdt, a business, civic and philanthropic leader, it was always about someone else – never about her.

Beckenholdt died Friday at Westminster Village retirement community in Muncie. She was 98. During her long tenure in Hancock County, she left a legacy of endowments, scholarships, service and even a park in the form of Beckenholdt Family Park in Greenfield.
