GREENFIELD — A man found dead in his pickup truck Tuesday morning died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, police said.
Investigators ruled out foul play early in the death investigation of Raymond Wilson, 54, of Greenfield. Wilson was found around 8:35 a.m.
Indiana State Trooper Rob McKeeman happened upon the scene during a routine patrol of the area, Hancock County Deputy Coroner Rudy Nylund said. The pickup was sitting in the entrance of a gravel pit in the 3500 block of north CR 100W.
“(McKeeman) could see a shattered driver’s side window,” Nylund said.
Wilson was found with a shotgun in his 1965 Chevrolet El Camino. He did not work at the gravel pit but had purchased gravel there in years past and likely knew the area was secluded, Nylund said.
Wilson had a history of health problems, Nylund said.
