Man facing multiple charges in attack

Follow Daily Reporter:

GREENFIELD — A 19-year-old Fortville man is charged with four felonies amid allegations he dragged his pregnant ex-girlfriend from her home and forced her to come home with him.

The young woman’s mother became concerned when she went to her daughter’s home in the 900 block of West Fifth Street in Greenfield on Sept. 1 and found the back door kicked in and her daughter’s cellphone still in the house, police said.

Officers responded to what they initially thought was a burglary but later found out ex-boyfriend Dallas Helm had abducted the woman, who is carrying his child, from the home, police said.

The woman sustained bruises but was not seriously harmed. She told police Helm kept her at his home for about a half hour before letting her leave.

Helm is charged with burglary, a Class B felony; criminal confinement, a Class C felony; battery, a Class C felony; and domestic battery, a Class D felony.

The charges were enhanced because the young woman was pregnant at the time of the attack, police said.
