GREENFIELD — A Fortville man faces felony battery charges amid allegations he violently pinched the genitals of 4-year-old boy after the child wet the bed.
Stephen Partlow II, 34, is charged with battery causing bodily injury, a Class D felony.
The child’s injuries were discovered by a relative, who told police she noticed the boy was bruised when she took him to the bathroom after picking him up from Partlow’s home.
Partlow is dating the boy’s mother.
According to court documents, the boy told her he was hurt and that Partlow had pinched him for wetting the bed.
The boy’s relative took him to the doctor for an exam, and a nurse practioner said the injury was inconsistent with any natural causes, according to court documents.
Police were unsuccessful in their attempts to contact Partlow, according to court documents. He was arrested Friday and bonded out of jail on $1,000 bond that same day. At his initial hearing Tuesday, he pleaded not guilty. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
Partlow returns to court April 3, according to court records.
A Class D felony carries a penalty of six months to three years and up to $10,000 in fines.
