Thompson adds 15 points for Marauders, who win 69-47

WESTFIELD — In a season filled with a series of lows, Mt. Vernon was able to put together a performance to remember Tuesday night.

With star CJ Coleman on the bench in a walking boot, fellow senior Alec Lohman pumped in 20 points and Michael Thompson added 15 along with a game-high seven rebounds and six assists as the Marauders handed Westfield its 15th straight loss, 69-47.

“We have been preparing to play some good games,” said Mt. Vernon coach Travis Daugherty, who saw his team end its own three-game losing skid. “Tonight is the best game we have had during this stretch. It’s good to see them reap the benefits of all their hard work.”

It was Thompson who got the Marauders off on the right foot. The 6-foot-3 sophomore scored nine of his points in the first quarter as Mt. Vernon raced to a 22-7 lead.
