GREENFIELD — Though Greenfield’s Dale E. Kuhn American Legion Post 119 lost its building to foreclosure last month, the post has wasted little time making a new home across the street at 278 Center St. in the Center Street Shops.
Thursday, post members, community service workers and a team of employees from the Greenfield Home Depot were kicking up the construction dust as the group drives toward completion of its new facility.
The effort received a major boost from with a $2,500 grant from Home Depot that covered the cost of the insulation, drywall, doors and some paint. Members of the store’s Team Depot employee volunteer workforce made up some of the labor force inside what will be the group’s new club house.
“The timing was perfect for renovating the building,” said Greenfield Home Depot store manager John Waters. “It lined up perfectly with what the company is doing in Central Indiana.”
