Riding little more than a few hours sleep after pitching the previous night on one of the biggest stages of his burgeoning career, Greenfield’s major league hopeful wedged his 6-foot, 6-inch frame into a rental car Monday afternoon. With his flight out of Detroit cancelled, Kyle Gibson found another stranded traveler heading east to Rochester, NY, and the pair joined up for the 330-mile, eight-hour trek to northern New York.
Periodically, such is life in the minor leagues.
