GREENFIELD — It was Greenfield’s own version of a hallowed pilgrimage Friday, albeit with a floral and literary flair, as hundreds of second- and third-graders took to the streets for the Riley Festival’s Parade of Flowers.
Some 400 to 500 elementary students from Greenfield-Central elementary schools along with those from St. Michael School made their annual trek through the heart of the festival to lay flowers at the feet of James Whitcomb Riley’s statue on the courthouse square.
