GREENFIELD — Dry conditions had prompted concern about fireworks-related accidents on and around the Fourth of July, but local public safety officials reported a quiet night on the Fourth itself.

The Greenfield Fire Department had extra staff on hand to respond to emergency runs for out-of-control fireworks displays, but the station didn’t receive a single call for a fire started from sparks, Greenfield Fire Chief James Roberts said.
